Great review Katrina! I saw the preview for this and it left me wanting more. I think it’s important for people to recognize the cultural conditioning that we take for granted and films like this often do a great job of bringing these issues to the forefront. I do wish however, that they offered up some solutions or at least left the viewers with a shred of hope. I haven’t seen the film yet so I don’t know how it ends. In any case ultimately it is up to the public to rewrite the ending with stronger more empowered voices, and films like this help pave the way for change. Thanks for being one of those voices Katrina! Wonderful article!

I am surprised a documentary like “Miss Representation” hasn’t been made until now. The issue about women being misrepresented in the media is not something new and should be voiced long ago. However, I have been to many seminars, research talks that heavily touch base on this topic. Nevertheless, a documentary such as this one can bring across a powerful message to the general audience.

Dunst was very good in this role but her character was just a little mopey for my liking. However, von Trier keeps his artistic vision in-tact and although there are moments of boredom, it still all comes together so well in the last 40 minutes. Great review. Along with Stein you chould have her buddy from the Gestapo Agemt froemd noted French academic and anti-Semite, Bernard Faÿ along with Marshall Petain the head of the Viche government she admired so much [maybe General Franco, Mussolini and Hitler while you're at it. She was a great supporter of that whole Fascist thing and the help Franco got from Heir Hitler and El Duce].
